As part of the innovation offensive "Partners for Innovation", which the German government launched in spring 2004 together with players from industry, trade unions and science, Deutsche Telekom headed the impulse group "Networked Worlds".

The impulse group focussed on the topic of "healthy living", among others. The aim of this lighthouse project was to develop and implement realisable innovative ideas in the area of technical or content-related networking together with partners from the healthcare system, society and politics. In this way, a significant contribution was made to the optimisation of medical processes and thus the cross-sector quality of care for the 2010 healthcare market.

The IZT conceived, organised and documented two expert workshops as part of the "Healthy Living" lighthouse project, the overriding aim of which was to generate high-quality application examples and to ensure that these solutions were technically sound.
