The topic of "online citizen participation in parliamentary work" was brought to the fore by the work of the Enquete Commission "Internet and Digital Society" of the 17th German Bundestag (Internet Enquete for short). The resolution establishing the commission, which was unanimously adopted by the German Bundestag on 4 March 2010, emphasised that the work of the commission should be comprehensible for citizens and enable them to contribute to the work of the commission with suggestions and ideas. The Enquete Commission implemented this resolution through a wide range of measures.
