Planning the energy transition together - presentation of the EmPowerPlan tool

We cordially invite you to the final digital conference of the EmPowerPlan project to discuss the experiences and needs of users and to engage in dialogue about regional planning and the implementation of the energy transition.

On Thursday, 28 November 2024, from 14:00 to 16:00

The event will take place as a digital conference. Please let us know by 15 November 2024 whether you would like to attend the final conference: Click here to register. After your registration you will receive the link and further information.

The EmPowerPlan project supports the Oderland-Spree region with a customised digital tool in the planning of renewable energies. This process is accompanied by social science analyses. What makes it special is that the regional tool helps to understand energy systems, links local expansion plans with scenarios at state and national level and supports dialogue between those involved. Aspects of fairness between different regions and their contribution to climate protection are also discussed.

What can you expect?

  • Project results and field reports
  • Reflection and exchange on the opportunities and challenges of digital tools
  • Networking with relevant stakeholders

Who is the event aimed at?

All stakeholders involved in the implementation of the energy transition and the associated planning law issues are invited, as well as those interested in issues of justice in the energy transition.

In detail:

  • The federal level, which has proclaimed area targets for the implementation of the energy transition
  • The state administrations that coordinate the implementation of the area targets in their federal states
  • The regional planning authorities that implement the land use objectives through their regional plans
  • Local actors from politics and administration who are currently confronted with the planning results and have to represent them locally

Key questions:

  • What have we learnt from our experience with EmPowerPlan so far in order to make the energy transition sustainable and fair?
  • Which findings can be transferred to other regions? What findings are relevant for the federal level?
  • How can the federal government provide even better support for the regional and municipal implementation of the energy transition?

The tool can be used publicly at https://epp.rl-institut.de/de/

We look forward to seeing you!

Best regards

IZT, RLI, Öko-Institut and team ewen
