Many studies and discussions emphasise the possibility of using e-commerce between suppliers and manufacturers to reduce procurement, stock levels, surplus production and error rates, for example, as an ecological opportunity for e-commerce. However, hardly any concrete data on this has been found to date. In order to verify the promising expectations, practical examples were analysed in the form of case studies.
The aim of the report was to analyse the influence of e-commerce on

  • Procurement,
  • Storage quantities,
  • Surplus production,
  • Error rates and
  • other material and energy-relevant variables.

Qualitative and quantitative assessments were made of the change in resource productivity due to e-commerce in the B2B sector (business to business).
