Demographic change and municipal environmental protection
This research project analysed case studies from municipalities in which targeted measures for demographic change were implemented that had positive effects on environmental protection and nature conservation.
The effects of demographic change on the environment have hardly been addressed to date. This project therefore aimed to illustrate the effects of demographic change on various environmentally relevant fields of action. It was possible to identify municipal projects that had positive effects at the interface of demographic change and environmental and nature conservation.
For the final study, recommendations for action were derived both for the federal level ("Shaping framework conditions") and for the municipal level ("Success factors"). The aim was to sensitise people to the topic and bring it more strongly into the discussion and implementation.
