Green IT concepts for schools and green IT consumer information
What does resource-efficient and climate-friendly information technology for schools look like? How can pupils learn important things about "green IT"? The project commissioned by the Federal Environment Agency centred on these questions.
The research project aimed to win schools over to "green information technology" in two ways:
Firstly, the scientists involved wanted to work towards ensuring that schools are equipped with resource-efficient and climate-friendly information technology in the future. To this end, they not only developed a study, but also training materials specifically for the IT administrators and IT decision-makers working there.
Secondly, the scientists looked for a variety of ways to familiarise schoolchildren with the contents of the UBA consumer brochure "Computer, Internet &Co.". This involved both teaching units and contributions in popular child-friendly TV formats or on YouTube.
This project was a sub-project of the overall project: "Identification and development of the environmental protection potential of information and communication technology".
