Rapidly advancing digitalisation and its impact on critical infrastructures places high demands on security policy and the relevant stakeholders, as many supply systems are interconnected. Digital technologies can represent both a major risk potential and more opportunities for security.

The aim of this project was therefore to develop a management tool for security policy stakeholders in the form of an "Integral Consequence Analysis for Critical Infrastructures (IKKRITI)". By integrating foresight and technology assessment methods and an existing technology and trend monitoring tool, relevant trends were identified and evaluated, and specific scenarios were developed to help analyse the impact of digital technologies in particular on critical infrastructures. On this basis, a control model (tool chain) was developed in a pilot module using two use cases for the participating users, which shows firstly how options for action and strategy options can be derived from this, and secondly how the model can be adapted for the existing structures and work processes of the users.

As part of the project, the IZT developed "specific digitalisation scenarios" with a focus on prioritised digital technology trends in connection with selected critical infrastructures and in connection with the context scenarios. The scenarios were validated in the course of an expert survey with the participation of international experts from politics, science (both technological and social science disciplines), business and society.
