Intergenerational housing and living - strategies for local authorities
The project identified strategies for local authorities that wanted to offer "intergenerational housing and living". A wealth of practical experience was incorporated into the study.
Many regions are having to adjust to the fact that younger, employable people are moving away. However, municipalities with a growing population are also facing an ageing population. Against this background, the IZT developed options for action for "intergenerational housing and living". Numerous practical experiences were incorporated into the study through focus group discussions and interviews. In 2012, the results were compiled in a guide ("Future Compass") for all stakeholders who wanted to contribute to the intergenerationally fair development of their municipality. An IZT workshop report is available for download for stakeholders who would like to read the results in more detail.
The increasingly differentiated development of municipalities (in terms of demographics, economic structure, employment, infrastructure, etc.) is one of the major challenges facing politics, business, civil society, education and regional planning in the coming decades.
The fact that in some regions a further reduction in the population was to be expected even then and still is has serious consequences for social life, public infrastructure and economic development in the localities affected. But even municipalities with a growing population are facing an ageing population. On behalf of the LBS Group, the IZT therefore developed options for action and strategies for "intergenerational housing and living".
