Megatrends in the energy industry
The IZT conducted a study on megatrends in the energy industry for AMPRION, Germany's largest transmission system operator.
The aim of this study was to analyse the developments in the energy industry driven by so-called "megatrends". The focus was on the influence of these long-term trends on the planning, construction and operation of transmission grids. Opportunities and risks were mapped. The analysis served as a basis for the strategic orientation of future business activities.
The IZT conducted a study on megatrends in the energy industry on behalf of AMPRION, Germany's largest transmission system operator.
The aim of the study was to analyse the developments in the energy industry driven by so-called "megatrends", to assess their influence on the operation of transmission grids and to develop a strategic direction for future business activities. The project was divided into two phases. In the first stage, megatrends were identified and described and, in the second stage, analysed in detail and strategically developed.
For the identification, megatrends were conceptualised and the search field narrowed down. The identified megatrends were described and the interrelationships between them were analysed. On this basis, a selection of particularly relevant and effective megatrends and their thematic embedding was made.
The identified and selected trends were analysed in depth with regard to their influence on the planning, construction and operation of transmission grids. Opportunities and risks were mapped and analysed against the background of future market developments and existing opportunities for new business areas.
