Abstract

For as long as humans have existed, they have lived off nature - for example, to produce food, clothing and medicine from plants or to generate energy. The strategy of the "knowledge-based bioeconomy" now wants to combine this knowledge with innovative technologies. Challenges such as climate change and dwindling raw materials should thus be counteracted and dependence on fossil raw materials minimised. We are exploring existing positions in NRW and actively testing new types of participation with citizens and experts.
