Abstract

The aim of the Compendium of Youth in Rural Areas is to provide a comprehensive insight into the objective living conditions and subjective lifeworlds of adolescents and young people in rural areas in Germany based on previous research findings and studies.
Demographic developments that are closely linked to education and training opportunities are examined. It also examines ethnic heterogeneity in rural areas, leisure behaviour and living together with friends, media consumption and internet behaviour, value orientations, political orientations and the commitment of young people in rural areas.
Finally, the possibilities and limitations of youth work in rural areas and policies for and with young people in rural areas will be discussed.
The book thus represents a significant contribution to the scientific field of rural studies.
The book is aimed at anyone involved with young people in rural areas. The book is also aimed at students of educational science and sociology programmes.
