Abstract

In 2015, the party Buendnis 90/die Grünen constituted a scientific advisory board to discuss what future mobility and transport policy could look like. The article is based on the discussion of the party and the advisory board in this regard, but represents exclusively the opinion of the authors. After a description of the initial situation, the corrective approaches necessary for a transport turnaround are discussed. What is needed is both a realignment of the legal framework for internal combustion engine vehicles and a realignment of road traffic regulations, public transport and air traffic. The financing of the infrastructure would also have to be put on a new footing and the necessary accompanying measures would have to be introduced. For a continuous dialogue on the future of mobility and the associated social and ecological goals, it would be important to win over the countries and municipalities as partners for a sustainable mobility policy and to enable them to initiate experimental measures for parts of their territory.
