Life cycle assessment of complex electronic products
Abstract
Most of the life cycle assessments carried out so far deal with packaging materials. Detailed studies on electronics and electrotechnical components in particular have been lacking up to now. This book first presents the current state of research on life cycle assessment as an instrument for the ecological evaluation of products in order to derive a methodological framework for the assessment. Furthermore, material, energy and pollutant flows of an electronically complex product (here using the example of a colour television) are examined. An impact assessment of the environmental impacts determined in the life cycle inventory is carried out.
