Abstract

In this project, technical solutions for an eco-efficient and economically viable refurbishment of used washing machines were developed in cooperation with the company Impuls-Recycling (Karlsruhe). Promising approaches to energy reduction that were systematically tested are in the area of shortening the heating time and reducing the amount of water, hot water feed, reducing the amount of detergent needed and automatic loading as well as improving the washing efficiency.
