Abstract

In this online course, we look at the basics of energy that we experience in everyday life. We explain different units of energy, for example what energy food contains.
But also how to calculate electricity consumption, for example. Are you interested in how much energy we actually need in Germany in total? Do you know the unit of coal? Have you ever heard of calories? We like to be warm to feel comfortable, but what is warmth? Is it the same as temperature? We explain the difference.
Did you know that water freezes at 0 degrees and boils at 100 degrees Celsius? Where does the name Celsius come from? What do a thermos flask and a warm jumper have in common? What does a heat exchanger do?
