Abstract

The workshop served as an initial step for the project "Future Plan Central Germany". Thirty strategically thinking personalities from politics, business, culture and science with a committed interest in the future of the Central German Metropolitan Region were invited. Based on a vision of the future of the region on the part of the participants, the aim was to work out challenges and opportunities, as well as possibilities for action and design. The workshop focused on the topics of autochthony, (sector) cooperation and self-perception and perception of others. After an introduction by Prof. Dr. Thomas Lenk and Prof. Dr. Michael Opielka, a round table format was used to collect wishes and challenges for the focus "Central Germany in 2040". After a short input from an anchor person, the participants then discussed the thematic focal points in semi-open working groups (semi-open space): - How can ways of creating value in the region be created beyond the economy - Typical Metropolitan Region of Central Germany? Working on self-image - How can the state/business/non-profit and community sectors cooperate fruitfully? - More than manufacturing: How can more companies be located in the metropolitan region. From the contributions to the discussion, which were recorded in templates, a "Future Landscape of Central Germany 2040" was finally jointly developed.
