Futurology, imagination and megatrends. Shaping the future through paths to desirable futures
In: The regional circular economy of the future in the district of Saarlouis: concepts & perspectives
Abstract
This publication summarises the results of the BMBF-funded project "Konnekt: Inter-municipal cooperation and transformation as the basis for a regional circular economy and sustainable regional development in the district of Saarlouis" (FKZ: 033L243). The publication is primarily aimed at the administrations and political bodies of the Saarland municipalities; the results are summarised in thematic chapters, at the end of which concrete recommendations for action are formulated from the perspective of the project.
The need for insights from modern futurology is growing in view of the increasingly complex and dynamic conditions in societies, including at local and regional level. Politics, administration and the population increasingly need support in order to visualise future developments. With the help of megatrends, it is possible to describe the future in municipalities and society, derive the necessary course of action and make well-founded decisions today. Local potential for sustainable development should be promoted and a citizens' council and youth council created.
