Abstract

Guests come to conferences by plane, trade fair buildings are nothing but scrap after just a few days and the carbon footprint is extremely poor - unfortunately, this still applies to many events in Germany. Nevertheless, sustainability is increasingly becoming an issue there too. In 2012, the event industry adopted its own sustainability code under the name "fairpflichtet". What approaches to "green meetings" - i.e. sustainably organised trade fairs, conferences and congresses - are there today?
Surprisingly many - according to the authors of this book, who present various practical examples alongside management approaches. All important areas of planning and realising sustainable events are covered. The practical examples range from church congresses to hard rock festivals, from small halls to the refurbishment of large event centres and from catering to trade fair construction
