Global crisis landscapes, foresight and decision-making aids for politics
Abstract
Modern and scientifically sound futures research "lives" from the professional exchange of theoretical and conceptual developments and findings as well as from the discussion of experiences from diverse practical applications. To this end, the NZF has repeatedly organised workshops, most recently on the ongoing task of communicating the research findings to decision-makers and future shapers in politics, business and civil society as well as the interested public. In this continuity and this field of tension, we on the NZF Board have planned a lecture in preparation for our JT in autumn 2020 and, in view of the need for discussion, have planned a publication in a special design. In the style of the former journal "Sozialwissenschaft & Ethik", we asked the speaker, Dr Lars Brozus (SWP), for a written version of his lecture, invited him to make short replies and finally asked Dr Brozus for a short summary. All this has now been done, and we are very satisfied with the response, because not only have four interesting and very different replicas been received, but several other interested parties have had to cancel their submissions due to time constraints. This makes it seem desirable and possible to continue this format in the ZfZ in the future, as there are plenty of topics worthy of discussion about the future. The editorial team will discuss this and comment on it when the opportunity arises.
