Abstract

The online course Green IT aims to teach various competences for students of lower secondary school. The students work both in presence phases in class and in self-learning phases at home. In addition to theoretical knowledge about IT or Green IT, the course also includes research assignments and different types of tasks. The online course Green IT is primarily aimed at students in grades 9 and 10 and is designed for five teaching blocks. The central focus of the course is the relevance to the students' lives. The topic of green IT becomes an alternative teaching and learning tool with a strong connection to everyday life. Both school IT and computer use in everyday life are taken up as examples in the course. Through interactive tasks and independent research assignments, the young people gain an overview of Green IT. Since the Green IT course has many references to different framework curricula, the topic can be dealt with in several subjects or across subjects.
