Abstract

The Handbook of Technology Assessment presents a comprehensive overview of knowledge in the field of technology assessment and evaluation (TA). In more than 80 individual contributions, it provides information on the development of TA, gives space to the presentation of different approaches to technology assessment and introduces important national and international TA institutions. A specific focus of the handbook is the comprehensible presentation of important methods for TA research and practice. Current research results in the field of technology assessment and evaluation, categorised according to technology fields, provide an insight into the current state of research. The editors have been able to attract an immense circle of authors to contribute to the Handbook of Technology Assessment who, as recognised experts from science and research, companies, associations and institutions in Germany and abroad, stand for professional quality and topicality. The handbook is aimed at academics from the humanities, social sciences and engineering disciplines as well as those responsible in companies, engineers and technology developers, teachers, journalists and other multipliers who want to be informed about issues relating to the use of technology and discussions about problems of technology development and application. The range of topics and aspects as well as the comprehensibility and comprehensibility of the presentation make the Handbook of Technology Assessment a fundamental reference work for all those who are professionally involved in technology assessment and research, and an important aid for the work of social groups - such as political parties, trade unions and initiatives - for whom thorough, up-to-date sources of information are indispensable.
