Indicators for the social dimension of sustainable water management
In: Sustainable Water Management. Development of an assessment and verification system
Abstract
Water management activities such as water supply and water disposal, irrigation and drainage measures in agriculture, but also flood protection measures have in common that they influence the quantity and quality of water. Answering the question of whether a water management measure is "right" in the sense of the guiding principle of sustainability requires reliable testing and evaluation standards. This volume presents a procedure that enables decision-makers in water management to comparatively evaluate water management planning alternatives in the light of the guiding principle of sustainable development.
