Abstract

In the learning unit "Inventory / Heat Generators", small combustion systems that are used to generate heat in residential buildings are introduced and the basics of the components are taught. Heat generators can perform different tasks. For example, fireplaces not only generate heat but also increase the value of the home. In addition to providing space heating, central heating boilers also have the task of heating drinking water. In addition to providing heat, combined heat and power units (CHP) and fuel cells can also generate electrical energy. In heat generators, either fossil energy sources (coal, natural gas, fuel oil) or renewable energy sources (logs, wood chips, pellets) are converted into heat. Heat generation by solar radiation in solar thermal systems or by means of heat pumps as well as combined heat and power plants are not part of this unit.
