Abstract

In this online course we give you an overview of non-renewable energies. We will tell you how oil and natural gas, hard coal and lignite were created from biomass an infinite amount of time ago. Oil and natural gas, hard coal and lignite are non-renewable energies, also called fossil fuels. They are only available on our earth in limited quantities. Burning fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide into the air, which pollutes the environment. Petrol and diesel are made from petroleum. In this lesson, we will tell you where petroleum comes from and where the richest petroleum countries in the world are located. We tell you about nuclear energy and why nuclear energy can be both useful and dangerous. We also describe how electricity is produced and the function of turbines and generators. Did you know that a bicycle can also generate electricity?
