Participation and sustainability
Abstract
"Sustainable development is a generally recognised guiding principle in society. In order to improve the acceptance of future-proof measures, the participation of various social groups is a good way to achieve this. In practice, however, many questions arise: How can spaces for participation be created? What imbalances of knowledge and power need to be equalised? Are co-determination and self-determination effective in terms of sustainable development? How can the implementation of results be ensured? These questions were addressed by a wide range of stakeholders from the fields of architecture, urban and landscape planning, psychology, political science and education at the conference 'Participation and Sustainability - The Devil is in the Details'. This book traces the discussions and their results and expands the approaches to participation in the context of sustainability with further insights from practice." (Author's abstract).
