Abstract

Mobility and futurologist Stephan Rammler makes a passionate plea for a different kind of mobility. With 'Volk ohne Wagen', he presents a topical debate book for the car nation. Germany is a car nation. Germany invented the car, perfected it and made itself economically dependent on it. On the one hand, the car is one of the most technologically advanced and intelligent products of modern mass culture. On the other hand, it is a product that is hostile to people, society and the future - if you consider the shortages of resources, space and clean air that are already noticeable today.
Stephan Rammler argues in favour of a mental and emotional change of perspective: we need to say goodbye to automobility as we know it. What initially sounds like a renunciation turns out to be a surprising enrichment - progress towards even better mobility.
