Abstract

The Enquete Commission "Internet and Digital Society" of the 17th legislative period of the German Bundestag was also an experiment in online citizen participation: The commission had the mandate to involve "the public to a special extent in its work". The experiment can be considered a success - even if the participation figures fell short of expectations. But what can be learned from the experiences of the Internet Enquiry and other participation offerings for online citizen participation in parliamentary work? The article gives a brief overview of the results of a study by the Office of Technology Assessment at the German Bundestag. The long version of the study is also available online.
