Abstract

Overlapping crisis phenomena are no longer a state of emergency worldwide, but our constant companions. Accepting vulnerability and dealing with unforeseen disruptive events are therefore central to shaping a sustainable society. No wonder, then, that the term resilience has been on everyone's lips for some time: at the beginning of a profound change in our lifestyles and economies, resilience concepts are looking for factors that enable systems, individual people or societies as a whole to survive radical upheavals well. Sensibly linked to the guiding principle of sustainability, new ways of thinking and acting can emerge that facilitate the transition to livable and crisis-proof futures. - We just have to dare to do it!
