Abstract

The time seems ripe to think about utopias again. Globalised world, economic crises and justice are the keywords that challenge our thinking and actions. Many theories and ways of acting are being questioned. Democracy and the welfare state have changed, but they must increasingly respond to the problem of shaping a just future. The same is true for the order of economic and financial systems, which have long moved in global coordinates but have an impact on the local. The question is whether and how politics, economy and society are able to offer the right means to the dramatically expanding, changing and accelerating world. What is called for is utopian thinking that raises the issue of time criticism and provokes changes in thinking.
