Abstract

This online course deals with hydropower as a source of energy. In the past, people used water power to grind grain with water mills. Did you know that watermills are more than 2000 years old? Today, hydropower is used in hydroelectric power stations to generate electricity.
In this lesson, we explain the difference between run-of-river power plants and storage power plants and what small and large hydropower plants can achieve.
Have you ever seen a reservoir with a dam wall and perhaps wondered how it can be used to generate electricity? You'll find out in this chapter.
