Abstract

In view of the accelerated pace of change and increasing uncertainties in our society, futurology is gaining in importance. It offers not only theoretical concepts, but also an extensive selection of practical approaches and empirical methods to systematically analyse future developments and better prepare for upcoming challenges. With the help of tools such as megatrend analyses, future workshops and other participatory workshops, stakeholders can strengthen their imagination and imagine possible, probable and desirable futures.

As part of KONNEKT, eight important megatrends were identified that will have a significant impact on Saarland and Saarlouis. This assessment serves as the basis for the development of scenarios and visions of the future. With the participation of stakeholders and decision-makers from various areas of practice, visions of the future were developed with a view to Saarland in 2030, 2050 and 2100. They not only serve as orientation for current decisions, but also enable stakeholders to actively contribute to shaping a sustainable and resilient future. Against this background, more concrete visions of the future and future situations are gradually visualised and the steps and paths that are possible or necessary to get there are clarified. The joint development also serves to motivate those involved.
